Waterfowl have shaped the economy, art and history of many areas of our country, but none more so than that of the Chesapeake Bay. Canvasbacks, deemed royalty because of their value in big
city markets of the early 30's, became an Icon of an era and an area; a status which caused their exploitation and decline. Market hunters themselves saw the effects of our country’s
growth on our waterfowl and began measures to turn the tide. Cans symbolize this movement from exploitation to stewardship. One trip to "The Bay" will prove why the Canvasback
is truly "King of the Chesapeake".
